Man sentenced for brutal rape of 14-year-old
CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WEAR) — A man who investigators say picked up a 14-year-old victim while she was walking to a friend's house and raped her in a deserted parking lot was sentenced to life in prison for sexual battery while using great force.
On Thursday, State Attorney Bill Eddins said Samuel Mosley was adjudicated guilty and was handed the maximum sentence of life in the department of corrections.
Mosley was also designated as a sexual predator, according to a news release from the State Attorney's Office, and is required to register as such for the rest of his life.
Mosley, who was convicted in April of this year, "brutally raped (the victim), while threatening and choking her until she blacked out," early on July 27, 2016, the press release said.
The child was reportedly able to eventually escape and provide law enforcement with a detailed description of Mosley and the vehicle used in the battery.
